I have visited the Maybury Restaurant on many occassions including my parent's 60th Wedding Anniversary and my aunts 80th Birthday. The food is excellent, fresh and always served to perfection. The staff are attentive and very friendly -including the gentleman with no teeth who always ensures I have a cushion for my back. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly and the wine prices are very reasonable. The menu changes frequently and is varied to caters for a wide variety of tastes. The steaks are particularly recommended quickly followed by the fish.
The linen table cloths and table settings have always been immaculate and clean with a fresh pot of coffee available without asking for it.

My husband and I thought it would be a nice treat to go to the Maybury Casino to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We both went into the casino to rejoin as it had been some 10 years since I was last there. When we arrived there were groups of stag and hen parties and we both noticed many drunken groups of young men and women most of whom were wearing jeans, trainers etc. I thought this a bad sign as I had always remembered a dress code for the casino. Anyway we went upstairs to the restaurant, I did notice that the decor looked somewhat 'shabbier' and a bit tired. We were seated at our table and ordered some wine, which was ok. Then our starter came, goats cheese parcels, . . . disappointed to say the least when it arrived. It was, what looked like a shop bought pre cooked pastry case (like a mini flan case)with some cheese and what looked like 'squirty' cream on the top. The pastry was burnt, the topping had a mild taste of cheese, but neither me nor my husband could figure out if it was actually squirty cream, if it was cream cheese that had been piped on the top, it certainly did not look nor taste like it. Very very poor to say the least, the salad on the side were some leaves with a splash of honey mustard dressing on the top. We ate it nevertheless as we were both quite hungry as the earliest we could get our table booked was 9.30pm, and by the time the starter had arrived it was 10pm. Then I noticed one of my knives. . . to say it was filthy was an understatement. There was remnants of 'white stuff' smeared all over the top and all dried in. This was very off putting. When we asked the waiter 'an elderly gentleman with no teeth', he replied, "its not our fault the knife is dirty, its the machine that does it", when I then said to him, but surely someone had to lay the cutlery, he just said, "well dont blame me, blame the machine that cleans them". That was the final straw, we asked them to cancel the main course and spoke to the manager. The manager was very pleasant and did apologise and said he would sort out what we had already had, and said he would send out another invitation to us for a meal. He did say, we get no complaints, the food is usually excellent, he also said the only thing that is frozen is the chips! . . . I beg to differ.
Not nice, not what it used to be, bing back Stakis thats all I can say. However if you are planning a hen/stag party and probably going to get so drunk you wont really care about the food, then crack on, . . . you may enjoy. Not for us.
